How we work
Audit, discovery, plan, build, support
01
Free audit
We look at your current site, its speed, accessibility and results, and tell you what we’d fix first. It’s free.
02
Discovery
For bigger projects, a fixed-price discovery: we agree goals, pages, features and connections in writing.
03
Plan
You get a scope, a timeline and a fixed price before any build starts.
04
Build
We design and build in stages, test on real phones and train your team.
05
Support
A care plan keeps your site updated, backed up, secure and improving.
Done properly
A good website works for everyone and handles data carefully. This is what we build in:
- Accessibility: built to WCAG 2.2 AA, the standard UK public bodies are tested against. That includes newer criteria such as Target Size (Minimum), Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) and Accessible Authentication (Minimum).
- The law on accessibility: for private businesses, WCAG is best practice rather than a named legal standard. The Equality Act 2010 requires reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and the 2018 accessibility regulations apply to the public sector only.
- Cookies and tracking: the ICO’s guidance on storage and access technologies (final version, 29 April 2026) covers pixels, scripts, tags and web storage as well as cookies. Since the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, some analytics used only to improve your site no longer need prior consent, if visitors are told and can opt out. Advertising tags still need consent first.
- Automated decisions in web apps: since 5 February 2026, UK GDPR Articles 22A–D set safeguards for decisions made solely by software. We design with a human in the loop wherever decisions affect people.
We’re developers, not lawyers. We build carefully and tell you when you need legal advice. More detail: Accessibility and performance and Analytics and tracking.
How web development connects to our other services
- Digital marketing: sites built with SEO in mind, landing pages that work with your ads (conversion rate optimisation) and tracking set up properly.
- Digital transformation: your website as part of a wider change to your tools and processes.
- Automation: forms, orders and bookings that flow straight into your CRM and accounting.
- Data analysis: clear answers about what visitors do and what drives sales.
- Business intelligence: website and shop figures in the dashboards you already use.
Questions
WordPress or Shopify?
WordPress suits sites led by content and services, and WooCommerce adds a shop. Shopify suits brands that want a hosted shop with less to maintain. We recommend one in the free audit, and explain why.
Why pay for discovery if the audit is free?
The free audit is a quick look at what you have. Discovery is detailed scoping for a bigger project, so the build price is based on facts, not guesses.
Do you build everything in-house?
Yes. Design, build and care are all done by Studios 6.
How long does a website take?
It depends on the size of the site and what it needs to do. You get a timeline with the plan, before any build starts.
Who owns the website?
You do. Hosting, domain and accounts are set up in your name and paid by you, and you own the content and everything we build. We work as a user you can remove at any time. Ownership of the site and its code passes to you when the final invoice is paid.
Pricing: a free audit first. Bigger projects then start with a fixed-price discovery from £750 + VAT. Builds from £3,000 + VAT, with the scope and price agreed upfront. Care plans from £75 + VAT a month.
Here’s what we’d fix first, and why.
Book a free audit. We’ll look at your site’s speed, accessibility, search basics and results, and tell you honestly what we’d change.
